If you know, you know--fresh tortillas make all the difference! The menudo was amazing . Flavorful, rich, and just like abuelita used to make. If you're a menudo fan, you NEED to try it! Service? Top-tier . The staff is welcoming and makes you feel right at home. You're not just another customer here--you're family. For all my Hispanic people out there, this place is as authentic as it gets! “ OMG.. this place is somewhere I go weekly if possible!!! Their champurrado is so smooth rather than super thick. My mother gets the pozole every time! I like the tostadas de pollo (chicken) it comes with all the works! THEY HAVE TAMALES DE DULCE!!! And they are so good. ”

“ Family recipes with all natural ingredients and nixtamalization is what an artesanal tortilleria & restaurant, El Maizal, is all about. Service and ambiance is on point. We ordered: *Menudo *Tacos *Enchiladas *Atole * Quinoa pudding Everything was delicious. I really loved the green salsa that came with chips. I bought extra to take home. Other stand outs: tortillas (of course), menudo and quinoa pudding. The menudo is a bit spicer than I usually take it. It has to be one of the best in metroplex (if not beyond). I look forward to going back for tamales and more. ”

Tortillas, mole, guacamole, quesadillas, chili relleno, enchiladas...they are all good! The consume for the birria is delish! Oh and also homemade horchata! ”
“ When I crave Mexican food, this right here is what I am looking for. They make their own tortillas, have a variety of traditional menu items, and several meats/options for each one, and it feels exactly like I want an urban Mexican taqueria to feel like when I enter it. The torta was excellent. I opted for carne asada fully loaded, and the fact that they grill the telera roll made it even better. I also got one pastor taco, and I have to say, as good as the carne asada was, I am getting a torta with pastor next time! Added a side of chips and salsa and the chips are perfect, while I found the salsa verde quite runny but tasty. It wasn't lost on me that the staff was all female including who I can only assume is the Owner/ La Reina/ Chief Abuela enjoying her own lunch behind the counter, watching her employees crank out delicious, fresh, Mexican fare. ”
